This device requires an extremely short installation time and fewer wires and terminals, when compared to most traditional solutions.
When dealing with mass production of switchboards, where a number of 3-phase loads are to be monitored with traditional energy meters, many wires normally have to be prepared and cabled, requiring long installation time and additional space.
The new EM270 is Carlo Gavazzi’s answer to solving this issue: maintaining all the winning features of EM21, it also facilitates saving a great part of the installation time and of the cost of materials (wires and terminals). All this is being able thanks to daisy-chain the supply/measurement voltages and the serial communication bus. In addition, compact 3-phase current transformers, having hole centers compatible with different circuit breakers, contribute to a smart and rational use of the available space and, thanks to their RJ11 connectors (the same as used in telephony), to speeding up the whole installation.
In addition, no need to program the CT ratio: this parameter is self-programming.
The EM270 is even more than an innovative fast-to-install meter: it is actually 2 meters in 1!
There are 2 current inputs, so it can monitor 2 three-phase loads at the same time. Even 3, if we consider that it also includes a virtual meter which automatically calculates the sum of the 2 measured loads. Thanks to the fact that the EM270 is also customizable, it can be advantageous to both small, medium and big panel builders.
