In a number of applications, the output signal from measuring and monitoring devices is an analogue signal that needs to be converted into a digital signal in order to switch a ‘common’ solid state relay. This can be costly, occupies additional space in the panel and takes a longer time to install. With the RG proportional controllers there is no need for this conversion. Based on the analogue input signal, the RG controller calculates and delivers the necessary output power. The RG proportional control series is equipped with various selectable switching modes to address different application requirements. Apart from the full cycle switching for heating applications, this series of controllers has a phase angle switching mode that can be used for speed control of AC fans for reduction of power consumption and for light dimming applications. The advanced full cycle mode is specifically designed for short wave infrared heaters as it reduces visual flickering. A soft starting feature prevents high inrush currents when switching short wave infrared heaters from a cold state, extending the lifetime of the heater. Applying the most suitable switching mode to the relevant application can lead to reductions in power consumption, optimal process control and can also extend the lifetime of the heater. The RGS1P and RGC1P is a series of solid state  relays (mounted on chassis or on an external heatsink) that give the possibility to control output power of 1-phase load with an analog control input.
Local setting by an external potentiometer is possible.
Switching modes, selectable through a front knob, allow phase angle control, full cycle control, advanced full cycle control specific for short wave infrared heaters and soft starting for limiting inrush current of loads having a high temperature coefficient.
