Amplifier units for 3 sets of photoelectric through-beam sensors MOF. (sensing range up to 50 m). Multiplex function for 30 optical sets. Carlo Gavazzi

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

    PAM03DB1RAU24

The new photoelectic amplifier from Carlo Gavazzi Automation is the fourth generation of the company’s photoelectric sensor amplifier product line. This device addresses sensing requirements in environments with dust, dirt, vapor, and visibility obstructions across applications including automatic industrial doors, stone crushing conveyors, and carwash systems.

The PAM03 amplifier operates as a standalone unit controlling three sets of MOF Series Sensors, or in networked configuration with up to ... ten amplifiers connected via the built-in communication port. The master/slave setup enables control of up to ... thirty MOF Sensor sets, with all connected sensors operating through multiplexing to eliminate crosstalk between units.

The sensing distance is up of 50 meters when paired with MOF Series sensor sets. The amplifier features integrated alignment control using flashing yellow LEDs and offers two distance setup modes: automatic configuration or manual adjustment via trimmer. Excess gain and maximum distance parameters are selectable through DIP switch settings.

Diagnostic capabilities include tri-color LEDs that indicate error types and locations for troubleshooting. The amplifier provides an alarm output for predictive maintenance monitoring and includes a sensor test function accessed through a mute input. This test capability supports compliance with European standards for industrial automatic doors.

The PAM03 Series meets international door standards, including EN 12453, EN 12978, UL 325, and UL 508 and is designed for operation in harsh industrial environments where traditional sensors may be compromised by environmental conditions.

    PAM03DB1RAU24 advantages

    Easy Alignment

Aligning through-beam sensors can be difficult as both the Emitter and the Receiver has to be adjusted mechanically both horizontal and vertical.

Proper installation and alignment of the sensors can be time-consuming but necessary to ensure safe detection

    Implemented Alignment help

•Alignment mode is selected on the DIP-switch by moving it from OFF to Align.

•The Potentiometer can be set at maximum for CH1 … CH3

•The Tri-colour LED is flashing yellow according to the signal quality for each of the 3 channels

    •Slow flashing means poor alignment

•Fast flashing or steady lighting means good alignment

•When a steady signal is reached the potentiometer can be turned counterclockwise for finer adjustment, further the 50% 100% setting can be turned to 50% to continue the fine tuning.

    Diagnostics

With several amplifier modules and sensors installed an error can be difficult to allocate. Downtime on a machine is very costly so easy fault finding will be highly requested

    Build-in Diagnostic functions

    In If a fault occurs:

•The Warning relay goes in failure mode.

•The bicolour LED flashes indicating a fault

•Short-circuit Emitter: Slowly alternating between Green and Red

•Broken cables Emitter: Fast alternating between Green and Red

•Short-circuit Receiver: Slowly alternating between Yellow and Red

•Broken cables Receiver: Fast alternating between Yellow and Red

    PAM03 Smart Master/Slave function

The PAM03… only consist of one module that will work as both Master and Slave

•The connected modules will configure themselves as Master and Slave modules.

•The module on the left, with a free female connector, is automatically configured as Master.

•The Master detects automatically the number of Slave modules connected.

•The Green Power LED will flash with 10% duty cycle on the “Slave” module

indicating the communication bus is active.

•The Green Power LED will light steady on the Master Module.

•Up to 9 slave module can be connected

    Neighbour immunity or optical Inteference

As machinery are gradually becoming more compact, and the use of sensors are increasing, it is important that neighbor sensors do not disturb each other.

    Multiplexed Solution:

•When the MOF sensors are controlled by the new PAM03 system only one sensor set are active at a given time, this ensure the ultimate neighbor immunity

Note: MOFT20-8 is replaced by MOFT20-8-PAM03
