Trends in Industrial Automation and Energy: Recap of an Action-Packed Week

A particularly interesting and productive week has come to an end. Through a series of focused presentations, hands-on workshops, and extensive discussions, we had the opportunity to dive deep into the technologies currently at the forefront of industrial automation and energy management.

The agenda covered a wide range of innovations shaping the future of the industry, highlighting both the challenges and the opportunities of tomorrow. Specifically, the standout themes were:

  • Smart Grids & Energy: Modern practices in Microgrids, smart energy management, and the evolving requirements for Substation Automation.
  • Infrastructure & Cybersecurity: The critical importance of network infrastructures (and the utilization of the 450 MHz band), combined with the strict standards imposed by the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act.
  • The Evolution of Programming (PLC & AI): The transition to the new generation of PLCs, with an emphasis on the Yocto environment and PFC400 controllers, as well as the impressive capabilities that AI-assisted programming brings to the field.
  • Building Automation: Cutting-edge solutions and protocols, such as BACnet, and their integration into modern Building Management Systems (BMS) to optimize building facilities.

The Value of International Experience

Beyond the purely theoretical aspect of the presentations, the most important element of the week was networking. The ability to exchange technical views and real-world field experiences with specialists from various countries provides a clear and direct picture of exactly where the technology is heading in the coming years. When theory meets practice through the lens of professionals from different markets, the takeaways are always invaluable.
